Sisters Together: Move More, Eat Better
A Whole Health Approach
Move More, Eat Better, Stress Less, Connect Intentionally
Sisters Together: Move More, Eat Better program
This program was originally created by a national initiative of the Weight-control Information Network (WIN). WIN is an information service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, a part of the National Institutes of Health. CWUW has taken this program and expanded it to include a whole health approach to wellbeing.
Sisters Together: Move More, Eat Better, and it’s partner program Seniors on the Move, was designed specifically to meet the needs of women in various stages of life to improve their overall health and wellbeing through comprehensive health education focusing on chronic diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular disease, increasing access to screenings, social support, and more.
Who do we serve?
We welcome all women in Indianapolis, but center the needs and experiences of Black women and their families. Black adults experience higher burden of cardiovascular disease risk factors such as hypertension and obesity, and are more than twice as likely to die of CVD, relative to White adults. Black adults also have some of the highest rates of Type 2 diabetes, second only to the individuals who are Indigenous.

Black women are the least to have support when trying to address obesity or being overweight. Join our Sisters Together Facebook Group as a way to link up with other women who are interested in moving more, and eating better.
