The Center of Wellness for Urban Women is pleased to offer Psychological First Aid (PFA) training, an evidence-informed modular approach to help children, adolescents, adults, and families in the immediate aftermath of disaster and terrorism. Individuals affected by a disaster or traumatic incident, whether survivors, witnesses, or responders to such events, may struggle with or face new challenges following the event.
Facilitated by Trauma & Resilience Initiative, Inc., PFA training is designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events, foster short- and long-term adaptive functioning and coping and equips victims with the safety, stability, and resources that helps to increase the survivors’ abilities to cope.
REGISTRATION IS OPEN TO ALL: Because PFS is not a professional mental health care, it can be performed by lay people (no professional credentials), community health workers, and other health professionals in the event of a school crisis, disaster or terrorism event. All are encouraged to apply for the training including community religious professionals, Medical Reserve Corps members, as well as staff at facilities serving families and youth who are experiencing homelessness.
